Difference between aniline & ethyl amine

  • Aniline is a colorless oily liquid but ethyl amine is a colorless gas which can be easily liquefied.
  • Aniline undergoes sulphonation, nitration & bromination but ethyl amine does not give such reactions.
  • With bromination aniline forms a white precipitate but ethyl amine does not give such reactions.
  • With benzaldehyde aniline forms schiff's base. But there is no such action for ethyl amine.
  • With benzene diazonium chloride, aniline gives p-amino benzene. But ethyl amine does not give such reactions.
  • Aniline is easily oxidised, but ethyl amine is not easily oxidised.
  • Aniline has an unpleasant odour but ethyl amine has a fishy ammoniacal odour.
  • Aniline is insoluble in water but ethyl amine is readily soluble in water.
